European Commission clarification on the path to decarbonization of transport - December 16, 2025

What place does Far-A-Day have in the CAFE 2035 puzzle, following the European Commission's proposal of December 16, 2025?

The perfect combo with FAR-A-DAY.

We explain below:

What adaptations and what trajectory for electric vehicles?

The aim was to save the end of the month and the end of the world, and to urgently remove regulatory uncertainty, against a backdrop of intense lobbying from all stakeholders. This proposal highlights a set of conditions that are essential for the decarbonization of transport, in which everyone must find something to their advantage:

- First and foremost, buyers who demand the affordable, versatile cars they have always known;

- European manufacturers with cars produced by them (!) and profitable;

- Politicians and the community as a whole, by implementing responsible and sustainable policies on climate issues and maintaining economic and social balance.

This announcement on December 16 essentially confirms the 2035 target.

It offers an opening for PHEVs and EREVs for technological neutrality.

However, equipped with three engines, a battery, a fuel tank (decarbonized), and two cooling systems, this solution will be suitable for premium vehicles but will not be able to meet the needs of the general public with vehicles that are both versatile (✅) and affordable (❌).

The creation of an M1e category aims to meet the needs of the general public. It will represent 40 to 60% of the market in 2035 (segments A, B, and C represent 70% of sales in 2024).

This time, with a single electric motor and a frugal battery, M1e cars will be truly affordable (✅) and manufactured in Europe. Each EV in this segment will be weighted at 1.3 in the calculation of a manufacturer's fleet emissions.

Thus, an M1e EV compared to a hybrid car at 89gCO2/km weighs economically 1.3 x 89g x €95 (i.e., €10,991), in the form of transferable carbon credits or, conversely, a potential fine if emissions exceed 11g in 2035 or 50g in 2030-2032.

The economic incentive is therefore very strong for mainstream manufacturers, who cannot rely solely on PHEVs/EREVs or premium EVs!

There is only one piece missing to complete this 2035 puzzle: the M1e must also be versatile (✅). If they offer peace of mind when traveling, they will sell like hotcakes because they tick all the boxes.

How can this be achieved? There aren't many solutions out there. Far-A-Day offers an effective solution with a completely seamless user experience.

30-50 kWh daily and 90-110 kWh as needed, with a 60 kWh recharge in two minutes!
